Merida
“Merida is interested in everything you're doing, she wants to be near you but hasn't quite learned that she can trust humans after a rocky start.”
Merida was always going to be our wildcard who may have just been a herd companion but she's already showing full interest in being more than that. She has a very sweet, inquisitive nature with no malice although we are taking things at her pace and not putting any pressure on her.
She had a very bad start in life being used as a brood mare from a very young age. Merida is very unbalanced and quite confused when introduced to new things. Trusting new people takes a little more time for Merida but we can tell she's extremely settled in the herd and in her new life with us. At only eight years old it's impossible to know how many foals she had or lost before her previous owner took her in.
Her name was Ladybird Bug or Lady for short, we felt this wasn't very fitting for her beautiful nature and warrior spirit. When she joined the Forgebraehead herd we felt her name needed to be joyful, brave and cheerful to reflect her distinctive qualities, kind nature and her determination to find her emotional strength.
