Mitchell
"Mitchell is a little pony with a huge presence"
Mitchell is a true Welsh Mountain Pony, born wild, in the Brecon Beacons area of South Wales. His birth date is guessed as no one knows exactly when he was born into the feral herds that roam the hills and mountains. Ponies are gathered from these areas very occasionally to check herd health and numbers. Mitchell was one of the youngsters who may not of survived so he was removed.
Originally called Steel his last owner renamed him Mitchell, a family name. He was the pony of her childhood dreams arriving at the farm near Braemar in a sorry state. The horse transporter sent photos ahead of his arrival to warn of his condition saying "This little guy's not in great shape, please love him, he's not had a lot of that." He thrived there and met his new best friend, Trevor, the Shetland pony.
Here at Forgebraehead, having arrived with Trevor, Mitchell is always one of the first to greet people. He follows you, pushes in and gets very close to whatever is going on. He is very kind, cheeky, loves being brushed and having lots of attention given to him.
When observing the herd Mitchell is often at the heart of the mischief alongside Trevor and Iceman, all three boys being very playful. He's a gentle soul with a lot of character who has already added so much to Equi-Innse Gall CIC sessions.
Mitchell is truly a real cheeky boy and at 6 years old, he is one of the two babies of the herd. He has a kind eye and has been good for the farrier and the dentist. He now goes in and out of the stables to investigate new things and seek out anyone who's working in there.
