All about JoJo
JoJo is a larger than life character who enjoys nothing better than a large bucket of feed and a good brush down after a day on the croft. As our oldest mare she has made her own routine of heading down towards the river and grazing the hillside for the morning, coming up to the top of the croft for a snooze at lunchtime, then visiting the stack-yard for an afternoon snacking at the haybox, mooching around the top paddocks or asking for a sneaky top up meal at the barn door if someone is working in there.
We like our equines to have the freedom to choose where they go to graze, eat hay, enjoy a meal or just to sleep on the hillside with their companions. JoJo has perfected the art of choice and freewill to do what horses do but also loves to spend time in human company. At these times she is a calming and unwavering influence who will co-regulate and relax reciprocally with whoever is beside her.
She did miss William dreadfully but can now be seen mutually grooming (allogrooming) with Holly or Rory which helps form and maintain strong, positive relationships within the herd and shows meaningful bonding.
